The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) Director John Houston’s masterpiece film about three American prospectors in Mexico in search of gold in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Based on a novel by writer B. Traven. Classic performances by actors Humphrey Bogart as Fred C. Dobbs, Walter Huston as Howard and Tim Holt as Curtin. Lessons to be learned about human greed and its ultimate cost. Actor Alfonso Bedoya steals the show as the bandit ‘Gold Hat.’ Outstanding, iconic screenplay by John Huston with many quotable moments. “I don’t have to show you any stinking badges.” (Bedoya) Dynamic soundtrack by Max Steiner.
