The best cd set you will buy this year
This 6 cd set covers Barry's career up to 2002. I like recordings of individual soundtracks since variations on the main theme can be interesting. Generally one track per film is presented in this 6 cd set: 8 tracks from Zulu , 6 from Lion in Winter, and the Bond films generally get a couple tracks, Last Valley has 7 tracks, Walkabout has 8 tracks and Raise the Titanic is overrepresented with 6..Much of the music is predictably stunning, the rest engaging. I have been torn between preferring Barry's music and Jerry Goldsmith's.. Zulu, Barry's breakthru, is still awe inspiring and this set presents in full the Welsh soldier chorus in Men of Harlech A great advertisement for being Welsh..Maybe this is why JFK liked Lord Harlech so much. I am so impressed I learned the song by heart in Welsh.Absolutely on the same level, though very different, than Goldsmith's Planet of the Apes.What a price for a 6 cd set with songs covering Barry's career.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

It Really is the Definitive Collection
This is a superb collection representing work across Barry's entire career as a solo composer. The most engaging thing about this release is that the SIX DISC enable a greater range of tracks to be presented for some titles, such as Mary Queen of Scots (six tracks) and Raise the Titanic (six tracks) The Lion in Winter (6 tracks) to name just a few. Its all here from Juke Box Jury through to Bond and Zulu, Walkabout, Robin and Marion, The Betsy, The Deep...the list is endless. There is only one grave disappointment BUT not worthy overall of marking this pack down. The Persuaders theme on this cd is dreadful. Having said that every rendition I have ever heard, of the Persuaders, other than Barry's own, has been poor. This CD is superb value and the quality of the performance of the City of Prague Orchestra is breathtaking. A must have for every Barry Fan.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Definitely Worth Getting
This is exactly what it looks to be on the surface -- the ultimate John Barry musical score collection. I bought it for the Mary, Queen of Scotts songs, but all the rest of it is just so damn sublime. This is one definitely worth owning.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
