Makes interesting reading for a civilian scumbag such as myself.
But the older ones (c. 1960's and before) are better, from back in the Full Metal jacket days, when they actually taught Marines such minor things as how to strip down the lower of their M16...This is a more recent volume and the differences are noticeable. Clearly they must depend more on verbal lessons now since the really important and hard-wopn lessons change all the time, don't they? Anyway, the difference in the text emphasized between the 1967 book I have, and this one, are pronounced. More emphasis on the weapons, skills, small unit tactics and physical training in the old one and more advice from the old timers where it counts, leadership/discipline etc. Anyway, this one is still interesting reading and a lot of weapon stuff.
