Originally produced as a television special for Showtime, this fantastic live special features the now-deceased rocker Roy Orbison with several equally legendary rock performers. Friends and colleagues including Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, and Tom Waits joined Orbison at Los Angeles's Coconut Grove in order to collaborate with and pay tribute to this irreplaceable rock and roll talent. Songs performed include many of the classic songs of romance that made him famous--from "Oh, Pretty Woman" to the tragic ballad "Crying." Shot in black and white, this performance looks as beautiful as it sounds, featuring at any one time a killer all-star band onstage, clearly loving every minute of playing with Roy, who of course outshines them all.Product Identifiers

Stolen in the Mail, lost in the bureaucracy!
Sorry you had to ask but this album, which I loved the broadcast on PBS, was lost or more likely stolen in the US mail service. So I really can not comment on this recording or its quality since it never even got to my mail box. I am reviewing in my frustration with eBay for constantly pestering me to make a review on an item that they know I never got. The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing at eBay and we as the consumers get totally lost in the mindless bureaucracy of a mega corporation. A Great Tribute to a Great Artist!
I think I first saw "A Black in White Night" on cable about 20 years ago. This concert was filmed in black and white at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles in one take. It was made the year before Orbinson's death. If you like Roy Orbinson's music, you will love this DVD. Great show when the DVD works

A Legend At His Best
Every song a masterpiece. The best in the biz accompanying him. The only minus is the cinematography; the dizzying, rapid-fire switch from camera to camera to camera to camera is annoying and frustrating.
