It's reusable and will help keep the rod in the retracted configuration, as I have it in an external rod holder on a tackle backpack.

This rod has a metal tightening ring (the other was plastic) and is even better than the first one I ordered. This indicates there will more than likely be a third order! LOL...saved as a favorite seller, will buy again!
