Really Nice Upgrade to our 20+ Year Old Rainbird System.
This is a replacement for an old Rainbird controller I'd installed in 1996, and hooking it up only took a few minutes. The connection to our home's WiFi was simple, and it works perfectly. I will say that when moving my cell phone out of range from WiFi (like the far corner of our property), it will sometimes display a connection error on the app, but that could be the phone more so than the device. The app is easy to use, and MUCH easier to create schedules than standing in the garage with a dusty instruction book trying to remember button & dial sequences. There are a couple of things about the app I don't like- 1. Manual watering needs an option to run all zones in sequence. 2. There should be a sequential option for start time/running zones in order, instead of setting the start time individually for each zone. What I do like about the app are the notifications available, and the overall ease of running the system from your pocket. The ability to add pictures of each zone in your yard, is a nice personalization feature, and being able to customize the number of zones on the app, really tailors it to your specific needs. We also purchased the wireless rain sensor, and that was very easy to install and digitally connect to this controller. As far as wireless home devices go, these two Rainbird devices have been the easiest to connect to each other and our home's WiFi. We're very pleased, and highly recommend them, especially at this price.

a great way to water my yard
easy to set up and use I like the way that I can check it and turn it on and off anytime or any where from my phone also to know that I don't have to go into the garage every time I want to do something with it pic's of old and new

Breeze to Install and easy to use
I replaced my existing irrigation timer with the new Rain Bird smart irrigation system. Installation was simple, and connection and setup was straight forward. Connecting through the App sometimes is slow, but generally connects without issue. Setting up schedules through the app is really easy, and I love the fact that I can control everything without having to go into the garage where the base unit is.

rain bird wifi water timer
well made, easy to setup. Many options for watering. Nothing is ever perfect for everyone, but for me this is an excellent solution to my needs (ok, the wifi is more desire than need). I have used the rainbird brand for over 20 years and its an excellent brand in this ever changing world. I recommend it. I had the old manual timers for 20 years and no problem, but this seems to be staying with the rainbird tradition of quality and ease of use.

Amazing Product
Amazing product; the epitome of convenience. If there was one change I could make, it would be to be able to shut the control unit off with the click of a button from the app instead of only from the control unit. As it stands, the only way to shut it off from the app now is to unschedule each zone, one at a time. Otherwise, it's a great product!

Easy install, sets itself up!
Install was simple, and once you download app on your cell phone, connect it to the internet, it sets all the vitals like time, date, weather by itself. You pick the stations, days, and watering times, it keeps an eye on the weather and adjust the seasonal watering times...neat! You also can manually turn on any station with your cell phone anywhere, heck it will even alert you if a valve switch bad. Rain bird ST8I has definitely has made my yard maintenance easier.

Great purchase
The price was about half the box stores wanted. Installed it with no troubles. It took about 15 minutes, and my system uses a well pump that needs triggered for each zone. The WiFi is a nice touch, especially in FL where they impose watering restrictions.

Works well, easy install
Love love love this controller. Installed myself, in 20 minutes. Works great. Almost no delay when turning watering zone on from my phone.

Works wekk, but you need a decent wifi signal at the mounting location.
The instructions are detailed, and must be followed carefully. Your wifi system must have a decent signal in the area where you mount this unit. If it is weak, you may have to install a wifi extender. Once it is set up properly, it works well.

Simplifies programming and irrigation control
Very easy to replace old controller. Simple installation and easy intuitive operation though downloaded app. Operated as expected from the first day. Recommend this unit.
