Awesome Book
I absolutely love this 1984 version of the Bible - especially the 2001 gift bible. I love how each books starts on a new page, the letters of Christ are in red, and the pages on the sides are gold (I love glitter, so this makes my Bible a perfect fit for me). The Bible is not brown or boring black - it is a reddish color. The aesthetic and feel of this Bible make it easy to read!Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

1984 NIV is my favorite Bible translation
The 1984 NIV is my favorite translation of the Bible. The niv is a phrase by phrase/thought by thought translation and number of Biblical scholars (pastors, etc.) I know have said they don't trust that methodology, i.e. they only trust word by word translations, e.g. the NASB was a recommended example. However my own spot checks in Hebrew/greek to english interlinear with niv & nasb parallels have shown the 1984 NIV to be more accurate translation than the NASB when judged on the word for word criteria. The 1984 NIV also has a beautiful flow/prose to it. However the 2011 NIV is a larger departure from the original text and its prose loses some of the beautiful flow. I have 2 kids with a third on the way, my 3 year old started tearing pages out of my own well used/worn copy (I used black duct tape on the cover because it was starting to fall apart and I'd been scotch taping pages to fix small tears before they spread) but the damage my son did wasn't fixable so I went online to try to find some replacements, including one each for my soon to be children, and I was looking for unmarked copies so i could write my children's names on the presented to page up front. Some of the copies (not sure if this is one of them) came with the dedication page filled out but other than that all of the ones I bought were in excellent condition.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
