Product Information

Dennis Potter's utterly brilliant BBC mini-series remains one of the most original works to ever appear on television. The story concerns Arthur Parker (Bob Hoskins), a married sheet music salesman who has fantasies of being a superstar songwriter himself. These delusions of grandeur often manifest themselves in the form of spectacular musical sequences. Along the way, Arthur begins to have an affair with Eileen (Cheryl Campbell), who becomes pregnant with his child. Although all signs point in the opposite direction, Arthur continues to hang on to his dream, even as his life begins to unravel.     Pennies from Heaven British Miniseries

    Painful to watch. If you are not familiar with he story one is completely lost. The British accent is heavy and difficult to follow. I watched disk one and couldn't tell you about it at all. I had to watch the American movie with Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters just to understand it, This movie was an MGM musical comeback which didn't work. It was a flop at the box office. the music however was good nostalgia from 1934. Other than that, don't waste your time or money.
