Product Information

This popular TV series from the early 1980s was created by the bestselling novelist Sidney Sheldon. Jonathan Hart (Robert Wagner) is a self-made millionaire, the owner of a huge corporation called Hart Industries, while his wife, Jennifer (Stephanie Powers), is a well-known freelance journalist. Their opulent household is rounded out by the Harts' loyal housekeeper and sidekick, Max (Lionel Stander). The glamorous husband and wife are constantly getting pulled into cases that challenge their amateur sleuthing abilities. They roam the world, mingling with the glitterati while encountering crimes to solve. In the second season, Max's ex-wife, whom he has long thought to be dead, resurfaces and asks for his help, and the Harts encounter a group of smugglers hiding a solid gold barbell. Jennifer stars in an amateur production that may turn deadly for her, while the Hart's lawyer plots Jonathan's demise as well.

    This is light entertainment: nothing more

    For the money you get 20 amusing, and sometimes interesting, episodes. I don't think anyone was aiming very high: these are just entertainment. Enjoy them as such. The Hart's are an attractive, wealthy couple whose income derives from the husband's business (self made, says the opening). The business (which is a conglomerate that takes on new units as the plots demand), and occasionally, their friends and family, provide the hooks for the plots. Since there's nothing inherent in any of this to provide a mystery plot a week, sometimes the plots are often rather implausible, and don't always keep you guessing, but there are enough twists and turns to keep it from getting boring.

    Accidental husband and wife detectives. Great series that offers intrigue, comedy, and drama dripping in romance. Awesome!
