The Fall: drug addiction, misery, and the consequences
There is a term for what this film is, misery porn. This film starts out on a minor note and just gets more depressing as it goes on. As someone who has dealt with addiction on a personal level as well as those close to me I found this incredibly difficult to watch. These character I know and seeing how the spiral downward happens was heartbreaking. The best hope is that they can recover from their addiction and move on, however with the way this film ends seems to imply that it would not be the case. On a film level I have to praise the accuracy to how addiction can affect people. But the editing is erratic, overdone, and impressive. These characters seem to have fallen so far as to not have character traits. They seemingly have no wants, desires, or dreams that don't have to do with drugs. This film is one of the most difficult movies I have ever watched, I don't know that I ever want to watch it again nor can I recommend it.
