Definitely worth a shot for the money!
This part genuinely is easy to install with all the bolts provided, there is a good YouTube video that shows you how to replace it. As many other peoples cars mine had warm air blowing through the vents no matter if I turn the aircon on or off so I brought my car into a garage to get the system refilled, the guy plugs the machine up and says it shows full already, tried troubleshooting with the fuse and ended up plugging in the diagnostics and all shows up as being fine... So we notice the bolt in the middle of the aircon compressor pulley sticking out a bit and the mechanic just says this is a weak point on one of these, we will have to order a new compressor and empty and regas the system at a crazy cost...could not sleep that night so I went on forums that night looking for alternatives ... Arrived the next day, half an hour or so later I had a nice cold aircon again! Most of that time I spent taking off the plastic arch liner and putting it back on. So if you are handy with your spanners this is a quick and easy job! I used some threadlock (not included in the set) to make sure that the new bolts don't come out. Notice the stripped splines on the old part, this is what happens when the bolt holding it down loosens.

It was either a £400 compressor or this £30 repair kit, which is all that it needed anyway. Item turned up next day, well packed, looks great quality (time will tell however) and fits without issues.. You will need a impact gun to remove the old one as there's nothing to stop the compressor turning whilst undoing the centre torx bolt. I put some loctite on the threads of the new bolts to help prevent a reoccurrence. But overall very happy, and AC working as it should again. ALSO love the face the company sells many other items for common problems across other manufacturers, will definitely be using them again.It was either a £400 compressor or this £30 repair kit, which is all that it needed anyway. What to say? It does what it promised to do, which is repair an aircon compressor shear plate with stripped splines. Especially helpful was the information contained in the eBay listing, which was invaluable in diagnosing the problem before purchase and very useful in giving an idea of what is entailed in replacing the component. Top Product, easy to assemble!
This is so simple to use and to assemble to the compressor, it took me one hour to do - even with the Webasto heater installed. And it worked instantly. It saved me a lot og money, about 2200 EUR. I reused the 3 screws securing it, because I thought the new ones was a bit short... I'll buy another one just to store it for possible future use, for me or others!

Don’t let VW rip you off !!!!
So the compressor stopped working and Vw don’t sell these parts separately. Best part of a grand they want. This replacement part fixed the issue (common fault that Vw know about) for only £30. Would highly recommend x8r as they have taken the initiative to solve common costly problems that car manufacturers seem unwilling to address.
