    I lost these items in a move 4 years ago. When I received them from this seller, their was SO MUCH CARE IN PACKING THEM that it really made my day, In fact, I will leave the Holiday Garland mugs as described packed in this seller's packaging until Christmas 2025! Sellers know this item is rare, but this seller sold them at a value I could afford in order to rebuild this lost collection of mine so part of my every holiday for decade. The Lion in Winter is set during Christmas 1183, at King Henry II's château and primary residence in Chinon, Anjou, within the Angevin Empire of medieval France. Henry wants his youngest son, the future King John, to inherit his throne, while his estranged and imprisoned wife, Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine, favours their oldest surviving son, the future King Richard the Lionheart.     Virginia Woolf in the Middle Ages

    Yes, they speak a far more current form of English than they would have in the 12th Century. So what? They spoke English in Spartacus (set in Rome) and The Ten Commandments set in Egypt. Just enjoy the acting and the many diabolical plots and try and keep track of them. DVD is OK if a bit muddy. It will certainly do until the restored BluRay comes out.

    The Lion in Winter is a classic that's aged well

    This film is both dramatic & humorous, making this subject matter very entertaining. Solid acting performances all around. It's a movie I know I'll watch again & I'm glad to have it in my dvd library.

    They don't make'em like that anymore

    "The lion in winter" starring Peter O'toole and Katharine Hepburn is one of the most intellectually engaging films produced in the 20th century. If you are looking for exceptionally brilliant content and performances this film will literally raise your IQ. Need I say more?

    I just LOVE this movie

    A superb cast of great actors portraying some of the most influential people of the day. Nobody represents Elenore of Aquitaine so well as Katherine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole will always be the Henry Plantagenet in my minds eye. The script is great and the acting is better. If you get the chance to watch Becket first it lays some groundwork for this production.
