The Kenwood model TR-7950 2m FM radio transceiver is ideal equipment for amateur ham radio enthusiasts, long-haul drivers, boaters, anglers, and emergency preparedness. It is easy to operate and designed for mobile or stationary installation. The built in 16-key autopatch front keyboard with night lighting makes the Kenwood model TR-7950 2m FM radio transceiver easy to use. Use the microphone buttons for common scan functions to communicate with various channels and operate the radio with one hand quickly and easily. A simple switch reverses the repeater shift and other transmit/receive frequencies. Read the large backlit LCD display on the Kenwood model TR-7950 2m FM radio transceiver in direct sunlight and in the dark. The display shows transmit/receive frequencies, memory channels, repeater offset, sub-tone number, tone scan, and memory scan lock-out. The display also includes LED S/RF bar meter and LED indicators that tell you reverse, center tuning, when you are at your priority channel, and when you are on the air. Program upper and lower limits into the Kenwood model TR-7950 2m FM radio transceiver band scan. Stop on the channel center during band-scan. Select the time resume-scan after the scan stops on a busy channel. Tune one step up or down during scanning easily using the UP or DWN buttons on the microphone. Program up to 21 multifunction memories on the Kenwood model TR-7950 2m FM radio transceiver with programmable band scans including note frequency, repeater offset, and optional sub-tone channels. Add a priority channel to any of the 21 memories. Instantly switch to the priority channel with the OPER switch. You have 15 memory options for simplex for 600 kilohertz offset. You can set memory profiles with upper and lower scan limits for simplex and 600 kilohertz offset. Skip selected memory channels in your scan without erasing memory using the programmable memory scan lock-out. Serious ham radio enthusiasts will enjoy the two memory pair options for non-standard repeater offset, or “odd split” two frequency shifts. You are also able to detect, select, and store sub-tone channels. Keep all your programmed data during power outages or if the cable is disconnected with the pre-installed lithium battery memory backup. The installed battery has an estimated 5-year life. Use the keyboard for either memory scan or programmable band scan. For easy one-handed use, you are able to auto scan from the microphone. Use the dynamic mic to communicate. Send your audio message far with a hefty 45-watt output. Use the HI/LOW power switch to reduce power to 5 watts to save power when long range broadcast is not needed. Kenwood tr-7950
The Kenwood tr-7950 is a great transceiver. The one that I got had an issue in the display, making it a problem to operate the unit. I found the problem was a solder bridge on the back of the display printed circuit board. By removing the solder bridge it made the display function properly. OK radio
