Product Information

A modern nightmare nearly becomes reality in this timely, tension-filled story about an "incident" at a nuclear power plant. Jane Fonda stars as Kimberly Wells, an ambitious TV reporter covering a story on energy sources who is present at a nuclear plant when a startling accident occurs that nearly causes the meltdown of the reactor. A newsreel cameraman accompanying Wells, played by a determined Michael Douglas, captures the incident on film--but the television station won't air the footage. Though the plant's corporate heads are quick to deny the possibility of any real danger, Jack Godell (Jack Lemmon), the plant's veteran engineer, discovers faulty equipment at the plant. Attempting to tell others about his findings, Jack soon realizes that someone is trying to kill him to keep him quiet, leading him to an act of utter desperation. The film is a marvel to behold--at turns gripping, stirring, exhilarating, and maddening, with fabulous performances, especially by Lemmon, who is simply marvelous. In a bizarre bit of synchronicity, the film was produced just before the March 1979 accident at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania.

I recieved my plush today and I am so happy! He looks just like the pictures and is suuuuper soft. He's a little dirty but it was listed as 'Used' and it's nothing I can't wash off. Good movie, coicided with the Three mile island radiation accident
Movie for the memories,in 1979 (no INTERNET back then) was like a prediction of the real accident, and explanations were only from the news, the movie presented the hypothetical accident, the news the real one, so similar that was scary. The movie itself is interesting, timing of its release (some days before the accident) was a super added, acting so good you can read between the lines the moral characteristics of the roles. Done so many years ago, still is present day (except the cars and absence of cell phones). Superb !!!!!!
Saw this movie back in 1979 when it was released , it was a double feature with The Exorcist , watching it as the second billing , I was truly more frightened with it then the other . Brilliant performance's from it's cast and great screenplay was the key . Knowing that a few days later a real life situation arose at Three Mile Island was quite effective , the unthinkable ---overwhelming !!! Very sad that Jack's character died when trying to reveal the TRUTH about corrupt cover up's based the almighty dollar , I guess the powers that be did not realize that ummm...the after effect of a nuclear melt down would affect themselves and their families as well , gee , what good is your money when your six feet under . Most recommended film for riveting performance's from Jack, Jane and ... Excellent film, definitely worth checking out
Great film, definitely worth every penny I paid for it. As always, Jack Lemmon never failed to deliver in his roles. All the actors give phenomenal performances, including Wilford Brimley. They address the danger of a fatally flawed nuclear power plant and portray the intensity and gravity of the situation perfectly. Been a long time since I've seen a movie that has literally made my jaw drop. If you're looking for a good suspense thriller that's not outlandish or unrealistic, I definitely recommend giving this film a shot.Great film, definitely worth every penny I paid for it. As always, Jack Lemmon never failed to deliver in his roles. All the actors give phenomenal performances, including Wilford Brimley. They address the danger of a fatally flawed nuclear power plant and portray the intensity and gravity of the situation perfectly. The China Syndrome is dramatic and realistic. The acting is superb, and the plot keeps the viewer engaged throughout the movie.

Thrilling movie with a deep subject.
It's a classic movie about an important topic. The actors are all great, Jack Lemmon, Michael Douglas, Jane Fonda, and Willford Brimley. And it's a good print with interesting extras; I think all DVDs should have extras.
