    Will require some work to make it work.

    I'm not thrilled with this product. I am the kind of guy that will make something work but this one could have been a better starting point. First the holes do not line up properly, I had to kind of force the plastic to bow up a little in the middle in order to get the screws/bolts to line up. The recessed holes for the screws are too tight for the hex heads and a socket, even the thinnest socket I had was a very tight fit, I swapped them out to allen head screws. After you get it installed I can almost guaranty on your first pull you will pull the handle off the rope. The rope itself is just too thin for a knot to hold either the handle or the recoil end. After about 5 failed attempts I ultimately tied a nut or a washer would work into the the end of the rope. It works now but I ...

    The cheap ones are junk!!

    I tried the cheap knock-offs, with very bad results. The first one broke within 10-15 pulls, and the replacement for that one broke within 5 pulls. Don't waste your money or your time on those. I could tell right away that this one was built of better materials and just felt more solid. Haven't used it for the long haul yet, but it seems promising. Shipping was fast. A recoil starter on a chainsaw generally must be pulled sharply. The cheap ones seemed to be made of a light, brittle plastic and simply cannot hold up to repeated aggressive pulls.

    Works great.

    After reading all the reviews regarding the "after market" products, I decided to bite the bullet and pay the extra for the OEM. The installation was perfect and the actual operation was just as good. My original starter had been in use since 1998, if I receive half the service of my original then I figure the higher OEM cost is a very small price to pay for dependable service. There is a reason cheaper is cheaper!

    Very good quality and fit

    Very good quality and fit. I first ordered cheap starter from china and that didnt fit well and was poor quality. Then ordered another one locally and that was same dissapointment. I didnt have high hopes for this one but it surprised me with qood quality and fit. Deffinetly not the same that most places sell!

    works, has value

    i tried cheeping out for one of these, but the sub $20 units simply would not FIT... The example i received was in OEM packaging, but it was marked "made in Brazil"... It fit it seems to work only time will tell now. BUY OEM and shop around for best price
