Great bushcraft sidekick
I was going to buy a Bahco foldable saw, but I came across this Gerber Sliding Saw first. I think this item is made in partnership with Fiskars, which is known for its specialty tree trimming tools. I liked the concept of being able to retract the blade versus folding it down - just a cool switchblade concept. The blade doesn't wiggle at the hinge when extended, which was my biggest concern. I've used it to notch and girdle pegs and cut 3" diameter branches with no problems! I think it's a great bushcraft sidekick to help save your knife or hatchet edges. I think this is smaller than a Bahco Laplander, but for me, it does the same job helping to process wood down. Very robust handle and no need for a sheath! Only advice is not to tighten down the knob too much when extended because the sawing action will tighten it down further, making it difficult to loosen and retract the blade. The good news is that there is an allen key option if it does get too tight.
