Unit to unit variation
STRENGTHS: TDA2009A amplifier chip used in this design is good sounding, with good frequency response. Power output is sufficient (5 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms) for use with efficient speakers in small rooms. QUALITY CONTROL: There is a great variance unit to unit and the power supply in some units is a source of noise compromising the musical performance. ISSUES: There is a turn-on POP from speakers in spite of having a relay switched output. The PTA2 has DC offset on output when using Headphones. The front panel Pilot LED is much too bright for use in low light conditions. Treble adjustment does not give flat treble response when at the center detent. The Bass tone controls slightly compromise the 2o-30 Hz. Frequency response. Pyle PTA2 mini stereo amplifier
I am using this to drive some Polk Audio bookshelf monitors from either a Tascam DP-02 multitrack recorder or a laptop for recording and mixing music. Sound is strong and clear with even frequency response. I am hearing no distortion at high volume, as well as minimal hiss and noise when volume is high but the music source is turned off. I really like that it is small, it plugs into AC directly without a wall-wart, and that it has multiple inputs that are switchable. Great value

Mini Amp
For the price this little amp works excellent. Not enough power to drive my large speakers, but I got it for use with my headphones exclusively. I personally like the the balance control, treble, bass and volume control for using headphones. I use with my satellite and cable box to customize the sound to my headphones. The size is perfect it has multiple inputs and outputs. The Sennheiser headphones sound excellent with this little box driving them. Pleasantly surprised by this little amplifier
I bought a used Pyle pta2 amp on e bay. The previous owner complained about the scratchiness of the volume and balance controls. So I cleaned up the controls and that thing rocks! Got this from a very fair seller...deeply discounted. Sold as/is for parts....because it hadn't been tested....I was able to find a very small short....a dab of solder fixed that.... Used and bent
