Not up to the standard of the book but still great entertainment
I had just finished reading Lonesome Dove and thoroughly enjoyed it. So, not having watched the TV mini-series when it was first broadcast I decided to order the dvd's. The director and script-writer have done a good job of transferring the saga to film. A couple of events are missing and there are a few inaccuracies but overall it makes very engaging entertainment. Robert Duvall stands out as the class-act, closely followed by Tommy Lee Jones. I understand from other reviews that the latest dvd transfer to widescreen format has lessened the impact of some of the scenery but this did not cause me much concern. For some reason, I have a feeling that the sequels will not be of the same high standard and I'll be giving them a miss.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
