We never figured ourselves for the type of people to stand on a street corner toting a sign that reads, "The end is near." Moral hazard has driven us to adopt this desperate mindset. The term "moral hazard" may seem obscure because it has previously been confined to economic theory, insurance practices, and reckless lending and borrowing. We have expanded the term to include any behaviors that put others at risk. The good news is that we (likely) won't slowly fade into unconsciousness while zombies chew on our skulls, but any of us could be killed today by a distracted driver or others exhibiting reckless behavior. Moral hazard is so prevalent that we don't even notice the headlines. "Major sporting good company found guilty of using child labor, again." "Home run slugger suspended 100 games after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs." "More nuclear launch officers suspended indefinitely after cheating on proficiency tests." Moral hazard is all around us and appears in forms most wouldn't think possible. We are increasingly treating each other with lethal levels of disregard, and most people don't seem aware of the trend. Our species is heading off the proverbial cliff, but there is still time to tap the brakes. Join us on this journey as we attempt to provide you with the tools to survive the moral hazard apocalypse.
