You're just an average duck minding your own business. Along comes a group of crabs hurling bricks at you, and some dragonflies who drop bombs. What's a duck to do? Fight back. As Deadly Duck, your job is to dodge these bricks and bombs and shoot "bill bullets" at your enemies to destroy them. Each level consists of eight crabs, and after the first level, dragonflies begin to appear in pairs. They cannot be killed, and instead act as a barrier that will block your bullets. If you hit one, you will earn points, but they will drop bombs aimed right at you. The game is played on a static, vertical playing field with Deadly Duck located at the bottom of the screen and the enemies located above. Points are earned in the following ways: shooting bricks (50 points in level 1, 100 points in level 2, 200 points in level 3, 500 points in level 4), shooting crabs (30 points) and shooting dragonflies (10 points). You start the game with four lives and earn an extra one for each completed level.
