Books written by ex-Amish flood the one-way street out of Amish life. Miller reverses the flow in her enchanting story about entering the Amish world. This easy-to-read, one-of-a-kind story ushers you into the heart of real Amish life with all its joys and tribulations. You won't be able to put it down., I dove in on page one, kept reading, and was not disappointed. I found Marlene's courageous journey from her English childhood to committing herself to the Old Order Amish church fascinating and informative., A rare treat! Marlene C. Miller converted to the Amish after she became a Christian, and her story chronicles her journey of faith and family. Written by a delightful woman, this enjoyable read will overturn many of your perceptions about the Amish., A heartwarming story of overcoming obstacles to find faith, love, and a true family. Miller's journey will captivate readers who love the Amish culture and enjoy spending time in the plain community., For someone who came from a non-Amish culture to write a book about being Amish is quite remarkable. This book will give you insights about the Amish culture because the writer has had decades of real-life experience. It gives details about Amish life that you may not find in any other book on the market., Marlene Miller's story is among the rarest of spiritual journeys: an English person who became--and remained--Amish. This book is even rarer: a firsthand tale of the trials and joys of nearly fifty years of life as an Amish convert.

Synopsis
Fewer than one hundred outsiders have joined the Old-Order Amish--and stayed--since 1950. Marlene C. Miller is one of them. In this rare memoir, Marlene recounts her unhappy and abusive childhood, how she throws herself into cheerleading and marching band, and how she falls in love with Johnny, the gentle young Amish man who helps her lace her ice skates. Against the wishes of both sets of parents, Marlene and Johnny get married and begin a family. Follow the author on this unusual journey to find out how God's love called her out of bitterness and depression and into the warm embrace of her new Amish community. Accompany her as she dons an Amish dress and prayer covering and gets baptized. Learn how she endures the strain of ten children, a hundred-acre farm, and accidents and tragedy, and find out how she comes close to walking away from it all. Turning Amish has proven to be anything but plain and simple for this former majorette. But nearly fifty years later, Marlene is still living out God's call as an Old Order Amish woman.

- e***g (59)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufExcellent prices on used books in great condition. Shipped out quickly. Product condition is accurate to rating in listing. Thanks! NOTE: For this particular book (I ordered several), it came in a soft cover rather than hard cover as the listing stated. I contacted the seller and they responded promptly. They agreed that it was a listing error and provided me with a full refund for this book (without return required) proving they are both a responsible and trustworthy seller. The Game Hardcover Ken Dryden (Nr. 277097212658)
- 0***1 (1572)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufThis book arrived within the time period given and was in the 'very good' condition described. Unfortunately, only being packaged in a plastic bag to traverse the Atlantic meant that all four corners got a battering (I would be happy to pay bit more in future for a bit of cardboard support in packaging) but all in all, the price was good and overall service for books that are difficult to get over here, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this seller. Will buy again from them.
