UNDER-RATED ROCK BAND
Great Fusion Rock Band: Rock, Psychedelic with a little Jazz thrown in! Very under-rated Los Angeles Group (1967-73, )... Mechanical World, their first single is a masterpiece! Plus several hit LP tracks like Fresh Garbage, Uncle Jack, and their big hit I've Got a Line on You, and another favorite forgotten hit single, 1984, included as a bonus track... also Animal Zoo, Nature's Way, Dark Eyed Woman and Mr. Skin... Group featured Singer and sometime keyboarist, Jay Ferguson who would form Jo Jo Gunne (Run Run Run 1972) with Spirit bassist, Mark Andes in '71 after both quit Spirit Jay also had a short solo career (Thunder Island, Shakedown Cruise, 1977-79), Andes later helped form Firefall and joined Heart (1980)... Drummer Ed Cassidy, step-father of fellow Spirit Founder, Randy California (Guitar), played in many Jazz and even some Country bands early in his career, playing in the Rising Suns with Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder (1964). In '65, he formed the Red Roosters with his stepson, Ferguson and Andes. They Added keyboardist John Locke in '67 and became SPIRIT... Ed and Randy moved to Mercury Records in '75 releasing another 11 LP's... This is Great Collection of SPIRIT's first 5 Epic Albums!
