Fresh take on a familiar genre
I have always been impressed with the lead actor ever since his performance in Dark City. He plays the villian in many films which just shows his versatility. This is a very well written feature utilizing a fresh take on the old police procedural in having the setting take place in Italy with the actors speaking in English without any fake Italian accents. Rufus Sewell of course carries the mini-series with memorable pastiche and style. This is more character and story driven rather than acton oriented...since I am more of an action fan suffice it to say there is enough going on to keep one interested in how the situations resolve. I had watched in on dvd as a library rental so an opportunity to purchase the series on blu ray was one I could not resist. If you are familiar with shows the BBC produces such as Sherlock you know that they tend to have each episode play out like a 90 minute movie (I first became aware of this format with this series). The production, setting, costumes, cinematography, writing and acting are all first rate and so good that one viewing will leave you impressed.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Zen is a first class Cop Drama.
This series was inexplicably cancelled after 3 episodes ! However although this was gifted, I can comment from my own DVD experience. Great acting, plot and Italian locations. I cannot not fail mention the stunning Caterina Murino, acting as the Department's receptionist. How they ever concentrated on solving cases is beyond me.
