Not an easy film for some, but worth the viewing.
“So slow” say some. “Can’t understand the accents”. It’s a movie about the writer’s experience at a film school in the 80s. Great understanding of the film-making process. The director writes the script of “The Souvenir” as the movie is being shot; she creates dialogue to suit the actors she has cast. Not every action is explained; some sequences are perhaps irrelevant, but that occurs in life. Just read that the BFI in London rates this as the #1 film of 2019. See it.

A very moving and personal story
I love this movie. Well conceived, well scripted, exceptionally strong acting, but most importantly for me, such a moving and touching story, that feels true, nothing false or forced. If you appreciate good film making, then you will appreciate the originality of Joann Hogg's best film. Worth watching more than once, and I think more than twice, with something discovered with each watching.
