TomTom Start 25 a good choice for European driving
I bought TomTom Start 25 Europe for a house hunting expedition in Spain. The reassurance of not getting lost in a country where I don’t speak the language well plus the extremely strict and rigidly enforced traffic penalties are enough to worry about. The large and well illuminated screen and fast boot-up made it easy to locate and drive to multiple locations, though itinerary planning is absent from this model. Lane guidance however is present and is very useful on the excellent Spanish motorway system, which allows you to get in lane in plenty of time, particularly useful at busy times and approaching cities. This is an excellent device which is straightforward to use and reliable, however there are a couple of issues to be aware of. In very hot weather (direct sunlight), the unit can power down due to the battery overheating which is easily fixed by running the demist on cold if the unit is screen mounted, to be fair, this only happened once. The unit may also power down if the charging plug is accidentally disconnected as the unit thinks that the engine has been turned off, just be careful not to allow this to happen (route the charging cable sensibly) or deselect the auto-off feature in the menu. Once you are used to the unit, the position of the “on” button, (which is round the back, and so out of sight) and have mastered the technique of attaching the integral suction holder to the windscreen, which takes a bit of practice TomTom Start 25 will be your best friend. Top tip, get a case. If the official TomTom one isn’t available, a Nintendo Game Boy case fits just fine, and has a little pocket for the charger plug and cable. If you are learning Spanish, the English voice guidance will attempt to pronounce the Spanish place names and provide you with entertainment as you drive. Haven’t needed to update maps yet (It warns me that mine are twenty four months old) but there have been no issues and map updates come free with this model. If you can live without Bluetooth (even using hands-free is probably illegal in Spain anyway!) TomTom Start 25 is an excellent choice for European driving, the lane guidance, free map updates and pocket friendly size make it hard to beat.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
