This book is a defense of Tolkien's The Hobbit as not only a suitable adult fiction but as a masterpiece on par with The Lord of the Rings itself. It is a book written from the viewpoint of a reader for readers, a companion in your journey more than an academic analysis, and its primary goal, as was so often the Professor's, is to provoke you to ask the important questions and to find your own answers.
