SynopsisCompiled under the direction of St. Charles Borromeo and recognized as the most authoritative Catholic catechism. Leo XIII recommended two books-- the Summa and this Catechism--for all seminarians! Pope Benedict 16th, as a Cardinal, called it the most important Catholic Catechism. Originally designed to supply parish priest with an official book of instruction, it has been used extensively by the laity as a steadying guide in our confused age. New typesetting and beautiful hardbound cover.
True Catholic Catechism through and through.
This is a reprint by TAN books (St Benedict's press) from an early 1900's translation. It is considered the best English language translation.
The foot notes are minimal and differentiate between the translator's notes and the original Pius V notes.
It is a must for any Catholic holding firm to the faith, and for anybody trying to discover what the Catholic Church teaches.
The translation is easy to read. The book is well organized and it's easy to find topics of interest. The different articles of Faith are explained is simple language and in succinct manner
The Trent council was the beginning of the Catholic dogma to correct heresies among the faithful. I wanted to see the truth back then & compare it with the current catechism.
