But if using a guide plate, you have to carefully grind half the bottom of the hex away of either the intake or exhaust (can't remember) to clear the pressed bend in the stepped guide plate, or flat guide plate. But the cost is greater than the effort because cheaper.

To match everything up I'll put them through a spring tester and see how they all size up if any need shims before installing but i like the elgin brand and haven't had any issues.
