Starring Gregory Peck as Squadron Leader Bill Forrester, THE PURPLE PLAIN offers the tale of a tortured soul attempting to traverse the rocky battlefields of World War II. Forrester lost his wife during a Nazi attack and slumped into a depression that saw him losing the will to live. But this feeling soon subsides when his plane crash-lands across enemy lines and he becomes responsible for the lives of two other soldiers.     Card came in exactly as describer (NM). Card never updated on tracking even though the seller had sent it out. I reached out and the seller was very nice and willing to work with me if the card didn't show up. Low and behold it showed up the next day, just never showed up in tracking. I Really appreciated the sellers quick shipping and care taken when packaging the card and communication. 10/10 would buy from again!

    Satisfying drama, acting, screenwriting

    When I quit Amazon Prime, I got DVDs of my favorite movies there. The Purple Plain stands above the crowd, based on a fine novel and brought to the screen by veteran novelist and screenwriter Eric Ambler, the story line moves briskly along, combining the high adventure of downed fliers' survival in wartime with the pilot's coming to terms with his own life. I can't recommend this unremittingly grown-up film too highly. But it is fun, too. There is a good bit of humor interwoven with the tension. I first the saw the film when it was released, and only vaguely remembered. I am glad I went back to view it again.

    Great movie for the price.

    Anything Peck is in is good. I had never seen this before and really enjoyed it. The price was right.

    Fails to bring to mind the time or place of this film, nor its purpose

    One of the few CBI theater war films. For that reason alone it's worth watching. Gregory Peck makes it even a must.
