    Excellent History and Socialogic Lesson

    The program was reviewed over a one week period so it was roughly one DVD per day. From the outset the tone was excellent and progressively describes NYC history from inception. Turmoil, advancement and development are combined to paint a portrait of New York unequaled in my experience. Although I am not a formal critic or history major I did find that although in very few instances an impasse......the knowledge and perspective is unique to any program ever [previously viewed. I highly recommend purchase and viewing.

    History of New York

    This is one of the best documentaries I have seen. The vintage film along with the narration is phenomenal, and the music is fantastic. I actually bought the soundtrack, the music is so good. If you love NY and want to know the whole history, this is the set for you!

    17th, thru 20th century New York immigration, beautifully executed with historical film excerpts & contemporary commentary

    A fascinating account of immigration to the new America via the New York Harbor, depicting how the people changed the once beautifully virgin Islands into the most culturally influential city in the world, and set the course for American influence to lead the world in innovation, technology, finance and the industrial revolution. It is a most outstanding documentary!

    Review of Rick Burns's New York video set.

    If you are interested in the history of New York City, then you will enjoy this video set. Lots of details and very well presented. Rick Burns did a great job on it.

    Buy it especially if you have school students.

    I bought more NYC 8-part series box sets as gifts. VERY historically interesting and we'll done indeed. It was the leading city of the country to this century and remains as one of the leaders to this day. It should be required viewing for American History classes Nation wide. Dave.
