Adds a whole new dimension to racing games.
Combined with a T3PA 3-pedal setup, the whole package adds a new dimension to racing games of all kinds. I enjoy road racing, rally, and even games like Wreckfest with this whole setup. One "con" I have for the shifter has to do with its tactility. As you move through the gates, the feeling of going from one gate to the next is a little numb right until you hit the stop, which is more like hitting a wall rather than the gradual roll you felt on the way there. I bought a CLIXBEETLE-PRO from Australia on e-bay. It's a blue piece of heavy-duty plastic that has a set of ball bearings embedded in it. By design, it only impacts H-pattern play and you do not have to remove it to switch to sequential, so it's great all-round. Once you lube it up per the instructions, the feeling going from gate to gate and then hitting the stop now feels like a nice, tight short throw shifter. Snick, snick, snick. It's perfect. I did spend some time in the sequential mode at first, but it was only for rally games. Great shifter. Way better than the cheaply made Logitech one.
I've been using the Logitech shifter for some time. For $50, I thought it to be decent value. After using it for over a year, I noticed that I started to miss shifts. I couldn't figure out why. Finally, I came to the conclusion that it was the shifter. I ordered this shifter and it has been amazing. No longer do I need to guess what gate I am in. This thing just works. Pretty good comfortable shifter. Delivered super fast as expected from Newegg. Price was steep but what can you do. Easy install, easy switch from H pattern to sequential. Worth the buy. Having a lot of fun on my stim rig.

TH8A is AWESOME.
I’m a casual (aspiring ‘pro’) sim racer and wanted to finally try an H-pattern shifting option. The TH8A is so, incredibly solid. No, it doesn’t feel like a ‘real’ shifter (I drive manual im real life), but it’s DEFINITELY awesome to have. It’s really executed well, and I’m totally happy with it. Great Shifter

awsome shifter

Great shifter - if only it was better supported in xbox
The TH8A is extremely well built and engineered. However I found that Xbox one has very little support in any of the Forza racing games or Nascar Heat. The TH8A comes with the 8 gate shifter plate installed. I just assumed that it would allow me to manually shift through the gears. However If I would have gone to Thrustmasters web site and looked at game compatibility, I would have found that it is only compatible in the sequence mode (i.e. shift up/shift down). Fortunately the TH8A comes with another plate that gives you the two state shift action. This is just slightly more immersive than the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. I really can't down rate the product or Thrustmaster for this as it was my fault for not looking before buying. Thrustmaster VG TH8A Gearbox - great way to enhance your PC/Console racing experience
Item is well designed and heavy/durable. Option to switch between 7 speed H-pattern and Syncro transmission. It easily attached to my Thrustmaster TX wheel and T3PA Pro Pedals for a very good racing set up. I recommend this product to those who are looking at it.
