This Is A Great Film--And That Is No Overstatement!
This movie is a triumph of film making--brilliantly acted and emotionally very powerful. It is academy award stuff for best picture, best actor, and best supporting actor. You will not be disappointed; I promise you. My only regret is I did not get around to seeing it on the big screen when it was at the theaters. Great graphics, technically flawed, good but not outstanding.
I was hoping for something comparble to Top Gun and a bit disappointed. The Computer Graphics are fantastic, the story line is so-so, the characters are done fairly well, but it just doesn't meet my expectations. There are two glaring glitches that anyone familiar with the Corsair would cringe at. When the engine seizes the plane continues in level flight while the wingman flies alongside chatting. Nothing like the book!
It really leaves out Jesse's background growing up, the racism he faced...and there were some scenes in the movie that never happened in real life. The bridge attack, helping the Marines and many other things were a tad disappointing. It fail to show the true bond that Jesse and Tom had. The book was a thousand times better. A well rounded movie of Korean War
This was one of the better war movies I have seen ! I was a Vietnam veteran but unlike the mistake of Vietnam……. Korea was Chinese aggression to invade Korea this is why today we have two Koreas !!
