    This was definitely worth re-posting: "To find the best binoculars, we had a professional Ornithologist spend over 100 hours field-testing 17 pairs against his own $2,500 Leica Ultravids. After using our test pairs in the mountains and hills of Southern California, then on a research trip to the rain forests of southern Mexico, he found that the Athlon Optics Midas 8×42 pair was the best of the group, offering performance comparable to his Leicas for a fraction of the price and the widest field of view out of all the binoculars tested.     Crystal Clear

    With the ED glass and dielectric prism coating, the image quality is awesome. These also work better with glasses on than any other binoculars I have ever owned. I got these at a great price, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

    Unbelievable optical quality, ruggedness, not super light, because of the former, which is GOOD.

    Optics--superb...Price--unbelievably low for the quality...Rugged--absolutely...Ergonomics--I love porros, but these roof prisms are GREAT, extremely durable, but not chincy lightweight. Look to be very, very well built. Of course, you could get the Swar's for nearly two grand. I would suggest you buy two pair.

    Got to Demo than bought my Own

    My friend who is a serious birder gave me a chance to demo her Athlon Midas binoculars that I didn't want to give back. My previous model was Steiner Predator. I absolutely love the clarity & wide view. Superbly well made imo. I grabbed an open box deal off eBay with no issues. Used everyday now in my outdoor pack as a wildlife photographer. Super happy with my purchase.

    Best deal for high quality

    I picked this based on the strongly positive review from Wirecutter and have not been disappointed. Very impressive clarity and durable construction. Lens caps pop on and off easily and are attached so you don't lose them. Wide field of vision. Love it!
