Designed by the team behind Warhawk on PlayStation 3, Starhawk is third-person space shooter that places you in the middle of an epic war against your choice of computer-controlled or online players. Two factions fight over a powerful resource called Rift Energy in the far reaches of space: the Rifters, a ragtag group of human colonists, and the Outcast, former humans transformed into monsters. Players will engage their foes in space as well as on land.<br><br>Starhawk players can also generate bases, vehicles, and defensive weapons on the fly while attempting to complete mission objectives. Up to 32 players can compete in online matches, with the game supporting four-player cooperative action in multiple game types as well. Online players can enter tournaments, view leaderboards, participate in clans, and track both progress and upcoming events on Android-powered mobile devices.

Step down from Warhawk
I bought this thinking a sequel to the legendary Warhawk would build on its predecessors successes and improve on its shortcomings. Unfortunately Starhawk is not the game it could have been. First off, the single player campaign is dull and repetitive right from the get go. No climax or game changing events just the same capture and defend objectives over and over again. I know it's supposed to be a tutorial for the multiplayer but damn was it bleak. Now, the multiplayer is actually quite good on its own, however when comparing it to Warhawk it doesn't quite deliver in the same way. This new mech/hawk mechanic is cool at first but soon you realize that the mechs are cumbersome and not really that fun. The hawk is fast and fun to fly around but when engaging others in dogfight, missiles are ... This makes the learning curve incredibly steep. Playing against experienced players becomes a huge barrier to entry. Overall this game is okay and considering I bought it for just shy of $10 it's a good value. But if you're trying to decide between Warhawk and Starhawk, the former is the clear choice in my opinion. Ps: if you buy a used copy of this game (which I did) you have to purchase an additional $10 "online pass" which is the biggest load of bull I've ever heard of. This game is nothing without its multiplayer element. And charging an extra ten bucks on top of the purchase of the game is just plain money grabbing by Sony. Shame. I hope this online pass crap is eradicated from the face of the earth forever. Cheers.

Cool vehicles, great graphics, gameplay variety.
This game kind of reminds me of Halo and also some strategic elements, like The Outfit (2006). There's so much variety, a lot of cool vehicles, and beautiful graphics.
