George Reeves in his first 'big-screen' appearance as Superman
What more can I say? A classic, full-length feature film starring George Reeves in the classic Superman role from the TV series "The Adventures of Superman." Nice plot line. Interesting-looking costumes for the Mole Men (are those plastic heads, perhaps?) and quite advanced for the late 1940's (or whenever this movie dates from). One of my favorite scenes is when the two Mole Men sneak up on the little girl in her bedroom, and they toss a ball back and forth. Then, the girl's mother comes into the bedroom, sees the Mole Men playing catch with her daughter, and gives out a scream that Clark Kent's super-hearing can detect from clear across town. Interesting. In a nutshell, I have no regrets about having bought this black-and-white classic film (check out the introductory spiel, with the planets and asteroids and comets flying through a background/backdrop made to look like the darkness of outer space as the narrator gives information about how, many years ago, when the planet Krypton exploded in space, the sole survivor was an infant boy who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mere Earthmen - today, that boy, grown to manhood, is known as Superman - and here we see Superman standing against the moon with his hands on his hips and an American flag waving in the foreground - how much more of a classic heroic pose can we get than that)? No regrets whatsoever about having bought this tape. Highly recommended for any die-hard fan of "The Adventures of Superman," such as myself!
