Included among the strange-but-true (or believed to be true) tales narrated by series director John Newland is the opening episode "THE BRIDE POSSESSED," starring Virginia Leith (THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE) as a newlywed who has a strange feeling that she has already lived in the town where she is honeymooning. Subsequent installments include "THE DARK ROOM," with Cloris Leachman as a photographer who is stalked by a man supposedly long dead; "THE VISION," featuring BONANZA's Pernell Roberts as one of four French soldiers who vanish from the face of the earth after witnessing an unusual white light; "NIGHT OF APRIL 14TH," with THE AVENGERS' Patrick Macnee in the story of a grotesque premonition involving a certain ill-fated ocean liner; "THE HAUNTED U-BOAT," with future HOGAN'S HEROES co-star Werner Klemperer as a escaped Nazi tortured by a mysterious and inexplicable pounding noise; and "ECHO," in which a man who has been exonerated of a homicide charge (Ross Martin of THE WILD, WILD WEST fame) sees himself committing the same murder over and over...in his own mirror.

Need to release Season 2 and 3 like you did for this release CBS/Paramount!
Sadly they never released season 2 and 3 on DVD like they did with season 1 and that is a fans loss. To see these episodes restored practically to brilliance is such a step above the Public Domain DVD's that are out there (Sadly in the 80's a clerical error, someone not paying attention to what was about to enter the P.D. did not renew the series and apporx. 50 or 60 of the 76 episodes ended up in the P.D.). This was for the 50th anniversary of the Season 1's premier and has been called "The Poor Man's Twilight Zone" but truth be told, this was first by 10 months, had this had TZ's budget it would have lasted longer and maybe people would have said TZ was ripping this off. The extra's are few but nice, the pilot is extended close to 30 minutes (average run time is about 25:29 to 25:34 an episode, unlike today where 18 to 22 - usually 19 o 21 - minutes is the norm for a 30 minute time slot), the ALCOA opening title sequence (the one you see on the P.D. releases) and the 90's slicked out 90's graphics credits used to when being on the Sci-Fi channel (before they became SyFy). Disc 2 has a 5 minute interview with a producer and disc 3 has not bonus features. If their are Easter eggs, I have not found any. If you can get the official release to compliment your P.D. copies, or if you have one of the many bootlegs of the series out there of ALL the episodes, you must get this.

AMAZING TRANSFORMATION! LOVE IT!
An amazing digital clean-up job for a great 1960s program that fans had to suffer through old masters and poor multi-generation copies to view. I wish they'd redone the entire series, as this pre-Twilight Zone oddity is worthy of the attention its better knwon contemporary has enjoyed for sixty years. John Newland was the host with the most andthe bulk of his 96 episodes excellent.
