Super Wick is the only choice!
I tried a couple of the aftermarket replacement evaporative media elements to save a few dollars and they are only frustrating with a super short life. These are better than the cheap ones.
Silly questions- it's just a filter. What I do like about the originals is that they last longer. Must be made out of different material than the cheaper ones which I found to actually get hard and stop working and they tend to smell.
