Heard in coffee shops and on college campuses, acts like Judy Collins, the Brothers Four, and Jimmie Rodgers were leaders in the genre. Hosted by Jack Linkletter, the 1963 television series HOOTENANNY showcased all the greats in folk, not to mention several comedians, jazz musicians, and gospel artists as well. Gathered in this collection are the show's best moments, compiled from footage once thought to be gone forever. The set contains over 80 tracks performed by artists including the Journeymen, Leon Bibb, Eddy Arnold, and many more.

just see the above
lots of fun if you remember the old tv series. very low-resolution, but that's cause the masters were low-res. to list it as "jazz, gospel is very misleading". mostly folk artists of the early 60's, w/a little jazz and gospel.

Best of Hootenanny,, 3 Disk Set.
The Sound Quality,, is Not up to par,, but do-able. The laughs of the 3rd Disk, of Jackie Vernon, are so Very funny,,, and the overall sound,,, is good enough. I have had better, sound quality, on the Triny Lopez, on I have had a hammer, from DVD's, from PBS, though. Sincerely, Steve Hansen

Great music, great performers
After watching the PBS folk special I really got interested in folk music from the 1960s. This video is great as it also includes comics and some short tours of the colleges where the concerts took place. I really liked revisiting the “old” times.

Nice selection.
The dvd revived my memories of those episodes from my teen years. The songs and performers brought back pleasant memories.
