Short.
This is a simple but effective piece of kit and I have fitted many. The device is simple to install, just cut a small section of pipe out then install the main body of the valve into the gap that has been made. Position the 'switch' in a convenient location, connect the control pipes to both the valve and the switch, but no more than 2M away, and that's about it. Biggest issue I find is the length of the control pipes which, in my opinion, are not long enough. The manufacturer does supply an extension kit, but the price of that is ridiculously expensive for what it is! If the pipes were longer it would be easy to cut short and dispose of the offcut and would be far easier than extending it.
