Exactly what it was
Absolutely enthralling and action from the very beginning. As a fan if the TV series Vikings and Vikings Valhalla enjoyed every minute of the book. It is written through the eyes of Thorgils, son of Leif Erickson. You were seeing all Thorgils life and escapades through his eyes. The Viking world brought to life

The clash between the old religion and the new
If you love ancient history then this story is for you. The most interesting part was the contrast between the old religion of the gods like Odin and Thor and the new religion sweeping across Iceland, Greenland and Ireland with just the one God. Supported by monks building monasteries and spreading the word. The story is very exciting and not a bit dull. It really is a travel log on how our ancient civilisation started to develop over a 1000yrs ago.

Great story full of facts, I especially like the parts set in England and lindisfarne near where I live. A life story split into 3 handy sized books.
