Gamers get a glimpse into the origin of Lara Croft as she struggles to survive on an isolated tropical island in Crystal Dynamics' reboot of Tomb Raider. The game finds the recently graduated Croft joining her treasure-hunting mentor Conrad Roth on an expedition into the Pacific Ocean's dangerous Dragon's Triangle. But a powerful storm splits their ship in half, and when the survivors wash onto shore they are greeted by dangerous terrain, fierce wildlife, and fortune-seeking scavengers. As always, players must use a combination of exploration skills and combat to escape alive.<br><br>The Lara of this Tomb Raider isn't the steely heroine from previous games, but a frightened and injured young woman who is very reluctant to kill people, but slowly builds her resolve in order to rescue her captured friends. To reach that end, gamers can make use of a variety of upgradeable weapons and tools, including torches, a bow, an ax, and a host of guns. The action mostly takes place in open, multi-path locations, with players using newly acquired tools to access loot and treasure maps in previously unavailable areas. The open layout also lends itself to multiplayer action, which pits groups of survivors against groups of scavengers in a variety of modes across five trap-filled maps.<br><br>This Game of the Year Edition includes the full original title as well as all previously released downloadable content, including new outfits and a handful of multiplayer map packs.

    Tomb Raider is good.

    Lara Croft has been a staple of the Video Game community and its history, so its quite refreshing for myself and many others to fall back in love with such a vital character and her stories. Tomb Raider is pretty gosh darn fun and thats all i should have to say because i am not a professional reviewer and if you are reading this then you must already be halfway sold on buying this title. I would however recommend checking out the classic Lara Croft adventures on the Playstation Store so you can see were the franchise all began. I believe the titles are Tomb Raiders 1-3, Angel Of Darkness, Anniversary, and Guardian of Light.
