Flight stick matters research before you get the game.
The game is just what I expected and wanted. Never ending do what you can get away with space sim.. I know in not alone when I say this, it's to bad there really is only one choice of flight sticks for the game being on XBox one. The one I got (not mentioning any names) developed a twitchy yaw drift 2 days after I got it. War thunder is non playable. An unbelievably complex space game (not for everyone)
But for those willing to risk it...will find the game takes place in a 1:1 full size replica of the Milky Way Galaxy. And in each one of those stars there are planets to land in (with the Horizons Expansion) and explore them in your SRV vehicle, or space stations to dock in and offer you missions. Oh and about those missions...think about this game as a "Han Solo simulator" yes there are bounty hunter missions where you find and dogfight other spaceships. But how about cargo delivery missions, or maybe you would like to buy a larger ship and fit it with passenger cabins (economy or business class?) and start a space cruise line? Perhaps you want to be a pirate and outfit your ship with devices to scan other ships and force open their cargo holds? Or a smuggler transporting illegal (but highly lucrative) cargo.... but watch out for law enforcement ships that scan you and might find out that you are carrying something you shouldn't. Stay and fight? Or Jump to another system before they destroy you? Did I mention you could mine asteroid fields to sell metals or minerals on the commodities market? All of this and much more, but there is no storyline, the game lets you do and be whatever you want to be, but it wont guide or hold your hand. You can play online (with the possibility of encountering other human players who might help you or just as well destroy you and take your cargo) or solo play where you will only encounter computer generated opponents. Either way the game feels alive with enormous starports or stations with other ships constantly docking or leaving and jumping to other systems right before your eyes. Resource extraction sites (mining sites) are full with other mining ships going on about their business, law enforcement ships patrolling because mining is lucrative and every once in a while pirates appear and start shooting the mining vessels to steal their cargo and all hell breaks loose! Anyone who, like me, enjoys this game will tell you to 1st play all the included training missions, all the training videos and if you're still unsure there are forums and player clubs where you can join and fly with other players who will help you understand the game on your first missions. So yes, this game is very rewarding and absolutely worth the effort of its harsh learning curve! But like I said, it is NOT for the casual player. Great game and got it fast from retailer.

Infinite Exploration
Looking for a game where you can almost guarantee mathematically that you will not have the same experience than any other player? How about one that doesn't hold your hand & expects you to pay attention? A game that you can feel yourself growing at, that you can't see an end to in the foreseeable future? Then welcome to Elite Dangerous. A game that has existed & been added to on PC for over 4 yrs now. A game that has an announcement on future content October 7th, that just added ground landings & SRV vehicle exploration. Oh not to mention that Alien life is popping up all over the galaxy recently.
