Got a bad one-then a good one
problems; sporadic timing caused it to run rough. Timing mark would seem to be in 2-3 places at once when viewed with a timing light. Hard to explain . Somewhere between that and being a blur at high rpm. The people I bought this from sent me a new one. It is people like this that are covering Pertronixs butts because Pertronixs would not respond to my problem. They sent me an email saying they would respond when they do not? But I did get one, finally, that works better than my Bosh 009. Update: 3 Months later I purchased a used original Bosh DVDA (5 degree ATDC) distributor and added electronics. This produced the best results. THIS REVIEW COMPLIES WITH EBAYS "community content policy" AND DOES NOT CONTAIN RATINGS.

Looks good but performs very poorly
The advance system is useless! The stock vacuum advance starts to respond at 1 in/hg and maxes out at 5 in/hg & 25°. This unit STARTS to respond at 4.5 in/hg and maxes out at 11 in/hg. I had to use a vacuum pump/gauge to get that response as the stock 30 PICT can only produce 5 in/hg of ported vacuum and this is verifiable in the factory repair manual. The end result was very poor performance. Very poor design.

Good design. Tried many brands and designs. Found this distributor combined with the 3 ohm flamethrower coil the best and most reliable combination.

Set and forget... Well almost.
I've been a pertronix user for almost 30 years mow. I fried 1 unit when I was learning by wiring it up backwards. My fault, and I learned. Red is hot!! I have my VW bus running in the same one for the last 20 years, starts easily every time. I have had zero failures from these units and will only install them on my vehicles. It saves a lit of service time having only to check the timing once a year instead of setting a point gap then retiming and checking the dwell. I would recommend installing them in any old points driven ignition system.

Great looking addition to my enginine
Easy installation, very straight forward, easy to tune, works great to care of miss in electric point ignition system, starts right up runs smooth couldn't be happier,

Pure junk if you ask me.
It worked for less than two weeks and 200 miles and just stopped working in the middle of traffic. So now I'm back to the points distributor I was trying to upgrade less $120.00.
