Awesome light-weight computing appliance with huge extensibility
I love this chromebook. I did a lot of research and going back and forth between this and one of the Toshiba Chromebooks, but opted for this model and do not regret it in the least. It's very light, durably constructed, love the keyboard and trackpad, and it even sounds pretty damn good. Amazing screen - watching movies with my wife while camping and traveling is a cinch. Battery life is awesome too. I could wish the trackpad was slightly more sensitive to taps (sometimes it takes me a second try if I'm not doing a click-tap). I could wish the charger was more svelte. I could wish the headphone port was less finicky (although that's probably why I got this unit so cheap used). I could wish for a full-sized full-length SD slot instead of a MicroSD. But none of that matters, really - I love this system and I wouldn't trade it. One crucial reason I bought this model was so I could upgrade it with a larger SSD and install a full Linux distribution on it. Having now travelled across the US with only ChromeOS devices, I'm going to miss the incredible simplicity and integration with ChromeOS - no doubt about it. I just received my SSD today so I'm going to dive into Linux proper tonight on it. But even if that somehow catastrophically fails, this device is really wonderful and surprisingly flexible. Perfect chromebook to run Windows 11 from
Perfect chromebook to run Windows 11 from! Replaced the internal HDD with a SSD drive. Followed the instructions on mrchromebox.tech to swap out the CHROME ROM for a UEFI ROM. Installed Windows 10 first to add the registry hack to avoid the OS restrictions and then installed Windows 11. Installed without any problems.
