Product Information

Laura, an electrified Jiu-Jitsu artist from Brazil and Rashid, a tech-savvy Middle Easterner who can conjure small tornadoes. Gamers can compete locally or online in Network Battles and the Capcom Fighters Network, and Street Fighter V supports cross-platform play. Capcom's iconic series returns with classic one-on-one combat, interactive arenas, and four playable characters in Street Fighter V. As always, players engage in 2D battles, using a variety of kicks, punches, and special attacks to deplete their opponent's health bar. The EX bar returns to let gamers power up their special moves or perform super combos, while the new V-Gauge builds up as players take damage or execute character-specific V-Skills. Fighters can use part of their V-Gauge to perform a defensive V-Reversal, or they can empty the gauge to unleash unique V-Trigger attacks. Street Fighter V includes sixteen different fighters, including four new combatants, with more competitors due in post-release updates. Characters include: F.A.N.G., an assassin who favors poison and is now second-in-command at Shadaloo and Necalli, a beastly Aztec warrior with massive dreadlocks.

  • Street Fighter V is 1 part great game, 2 part DLC gimmick

Street Fighter V is 1 part great game, 2 part DLC gimmick. It plays great, I think an improvement in some respects over IV, with a great short story mode for all characters and surprise stage finishes (you will know what I mention if you bump into these fun surprises). The characters are fun and there's a ton of potential. The incredibly huge problem is this game requires network access and is half finished. You cannot use more than half the game unless you update the entire package (will not allow network access on the old SFV main screen dashboard). I just purchased the base game used and as of 06-29-22 it had a HUGE 25GB update, which at first surprised me as it automatically updates to the Champion Edition (!!!) of the Game with the dashboard now giving you an Arcade mode (you play online and can have a high score posted for a month before reset) and a store for access to download I think 22 characters (you have the 16 core characters included). The problem lies in how you access the game content. It's not like the older SF games where you beat the game once you get a character or reach a certain condition; you have to earn "fight money" to purchase characters, stages, costumes, etc. The system for making fight money is incredibly vague, conditions and amount is ambiguous. When you beat a story mode story you get around 8000 credits but to buy a character with it you have to basically complete the entire story mode as a single character costs 100,000 credits. Does not sound bad if you keep playing the story mode but as I understand, at least initially, you cannot get any more fight money if you replay the story mode to get credits (I even had to re-beat half of it as I played 8 characters before the update completed so it does not work retroactively and had to replay each of those 8 stories to get those credits). So how else do you get credits then? I understand you can get them if you play survival mode but I played 22 characters before losing with no credits received (maybe you have to complete it?). You have to wait for characters to load so it takes a loooong time to play and replay to attempt to win. I I tried arcade mode but no credits given either. I read you can win 50 credits per online ranked challenges (that little?) but to play this online mode you have to pay for the Playstation Plus online package which is like Netflix, about $120 to $200 or so per year (or monthly subscription). Instead of winning the characters you can pay $6 for each character (I think around $132) or you can just pay $30 and buy a new champion edition download or physical copy with a download code (* BE AWARE YOU CANNOT USE A USED COPY CODE AS IT IS REGISTERED TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER). So in short if you are not paying for online play you are left with a game with play options that are less than half available. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game and I love the Street Fighter series. I used fight money won from beating the whole story mode to purchase a character and then you get their story mode which is great too (just as I would hope ^_^). But as mentioned everything is vague. It's really a shame because instead of enjoying this like the arcade game it is I am more concerned about how I can "earn" money to play it to it's fullest. I just introduced my brother too it just to be surprised you cannot play more than half the characters. DLC was silly fro M vs C 3 but that was only 2 characters. I don't need dopey trophy goals and other mission nonsense that doesn't actually affect how the game is played. It reminds me of how stupid it was to unlock Guile as a secret character in Alpha 3, I think you had to play so many matches or wait 48 hours for him to become unlocked. This is a million times worse. It's a terrible shame because otherwise it's a terrific game. The idea to upgrade to Champion Edition dashboard and to allow players to win characters is great if it were not bogged down by this confusion and difficulty. Maybe there is an easier way but I don't see it or it's not clear how to do that. Some of us just want to play the game, not live it. Just remember it doesn't have to be this way.

  • Good gameplay crappy graphics and only have finished before released.

Love the street fighter series but they really dropped the ball on this one. Theres no animated cut scenes only drawn still frames UNLESS you get the story dlc. Its free but still, this game was released only have finished. Bad voice acting and the graphic make the characters looks freaky. The only thing this game has going for it is the gameplay Limited character selection with new characters available through paid dlc and the online lag kills this game for me. The most recent update does fix allot of the issues i had especially with the story but thats something that should of been included day one. 2 out of 5 on release. 3 out of 5 with updates.

  • Blegh...

Being a fan of Street Fighter II and III from the '90s...I was expecting some fresh new play mechanics with SFV. Unfortunately, the game is far from polished and complete. Features and game options are very little as it actually feels more like a demo or unfinished product. Story modes are WAY TOO SHORT at about 3 fight matches per character. Despite the monthly new DLC, it's not enough to keep me excited. Bought it a couple weeks ago but now ready to sell it already...

  • SF V BRINGS CASUAL FIGHTING TO THE MASSES WHILE LEAVING MOST OF WHAT WE LOVE INTACT

The biggest problem this game has is the weak roster compared to SFIV. Other than that, I believe the gameplay itself is far more balanced and anyone can turn the tides of a battle with a little know how. IT seemed that in USFIV, many of the characters were way too strong. For sure though, we need AKUMA, Sagat, Blanks, and just about all the other classics that are known to be in every SF game practically ever made starting from SF2 TURBO. (Well, couldn't play Akuma until Zero/Alpha series but still) So get busy Capcom, release these far needed characters and you'll have out done yourself. As it stands now, i'd say SFV is only slightly above SFIV . Also, I really don't remember having so much fun in a fighter probably since the last SF and the last Blazblue on ps4, one hand drawn anime, the other 3d art in 2d fights. Parts of SFV gameplay seem faster, maybe it's a far more aggressive game, or it seems so to me. I like that instead of the cat and mouse style of the last one. I think that's what makes this more accessible to the masses, the fact it's a faster paced game, not in how fast you move but in how you go about attacking your opponents. NOW HOW 'BOUT SOME LOVE AND BRING US THE REST OF OUR CHARACTERS, AND NOT STAGGERED THOUGHT A YEAR>

  • This game is garbage.

Worst SF game I ever played. Poor usability. Basic moves. Unrealistically animated and cartoony. Got bored after playing it once! MK XL is way better by comparison. This SF V game, you can tell developers didn't spend much time on it.

  • Not for me

I love the Street Fighter series, don't get me wrong, but this game is not what I thought it would be. The gameplay that everyone is bragging about is not very "user-friendly" and "easy to learn" as Capcom made it seem. I had a very hard time learning the combo system since it's more complex than it seem. All in all this game is not for me. More for the pros. Everyone else might enjoy but not me.

  • Better now than ever

When I heard early reviews the ongoing complaint was the lightness of content...in the past few months several story modes have been available to upload free and I still haven't finished everything. I watch a bit of this on Twitch and I like the fact that tutorial modes are extensive and explain a lot about combos etc. My only dig against the SF series in general (besides somewhat questionable female characterizations) is the lack of any possibility of co-op. You're on your own here.

  • Street fighter V

The current state of the game feels complete, the gameplay is fun and the models are vastly superior compared to 4.

  • Good game but not the best

It's difficult to play i wish the special moves were easier to do. Not as easy to play as other fighting games. But if you like the street figher series you'll enjoy this game.
