Great reference!
Chose by the late Jack O'Connor as shooting editor of Outdoor Life ,Jim did a superb job for some 28 yrs. in this role.The book of 'The Rifle' is to me still a great reference when looking into buying a scope,rifle,etc,.I took his advice and not once been disappointed

Jim Carmichel's Book of the Rifle
Jim Carmichel, a world-wide hunter, competitive shooter, and long-time Shooting Editor of Outdoor Life, knows rifles and this is an excellent and entertaining reference book on the matter. Much of the information is timeless.

One of the greatest experienced Hunter's and gun writer's of all time.
The day it arrived I had worked a 10 hour shift. I read the entire chapter on varmint rifles. Although I am a long time fan of the 22-250, I was unaware of the catagories which the Swift outperforms it I am now in the market for a 220 Swift rifle, Due to the knowledge of the cartridge learned from this chapter.
