British Television Finest Hour
This series is one of television's gems but it doesn't get he respect )in my opinion) from Emmy voters & critics in this country! However, the program has a worldwide cult following & in England it is a national obsession! Start with the attention to detail in the setting-a poor London suburb (Poplar) in the late 1950's to (as this tenth season starts) 1966. The clothing & sets reflect the time perfectly! Then, the writing kicks in. Led by the brilliant Heidi Thomas the writers know how to pull out every emotion in the book! The acting ensemble is first-rate (including a future Academy Award winner). In fact, I now know these actors by their first names-they've become part of my extended family! One note, I do NOT binge-watch this show; the roller coaster of emotions is so great I feel I need two weeks between episodes to psych myself up for the next one! Love it
