A solid pedal (4.5+ stars easily)
Well, I would not say a solid 5-stars but maybe a solid 4.5 for sure. They do appear well made and the installation process could not have been any easier. In fact, the reviews I read and instructions were perfectly on the bullseye for that aspect. If you have installed any pedals on your bike, these are no different. I have heard things like the brains central of the unit is rather unsightly and large. I really have no issue with what Favero has done and the design. The fact they are resin filled with no rubber plug to have water ingress is the biggest plus. The estimated longevity as far as the battery is concerned will outlive most riders and if not, and you get the predicted number of years before natural battery failure, you won! Go buy another set and start over. As to the clipping in and out......well, I have no issue with the Look Keo cleat platform. It does however take some time to get use to the new cleat format. I came from Time Iclic pedals and cleats and they were some of the easiest I have ever done and my preferred. However, after half a dozen rides, I am learning the pedal and the new cleat. Unclipping is as easy as any to me. My biggest issue with the pedal is the back weight of the pedal. I do wish they were more balanced as when you need to clip fast crossing a intersection it can be quite concerning! But once again, you have to get use to the new location and layout of this pedal. The metrics and all the data it reads is impressive. Now let's add a caveat to my review.....I have nothing to compare these pedals to. These are my first power meter pedals so as to + or - in a apples to apples side by side with others like Garmin Vector or SRM Looks or others, I just don't have that expertise in those. But what I have read and seen personally, they seem to be working as intended. I believe anyone looking to get into power meters and needing to read the metrics should really take a look at these. My only other concern has been every time I went to ride the crankarm setting (I have 175 mm crank arms), it would default to 172.5 and if I did not check it prior, I rode with that default setting. I have kept inputting that variable and the last time I just activated the pedals and read the settings on my phone app it seemed to be holding the 175 I inputted. We shall see. Overall, very happy. Longevity, we shall see.
