The production is dated, but the songs and performances are stellar.
Gary Morris' histrionic vocal style was never my cup of tea, but I saw him at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and he sang very tastefully. On this album Morris sings in his full-throated, full-blast style and the big surprise is Crystal Gayle, who, known for a sweet and friendly low volume vocal style, stands toe-to-toe with Morris and matches him in volume. Their voices are so in tune (this is before autotuning by computer) and blend so well that the resulting vocal sound is stunning! The only drawback is the overuse of glassy-toned synths, which dates the album. This album is a great value, though, if you're a fan of either of these two singers. I'm in the Gayle camp and this CD does not disappoint at all.
