Intense but powerful
This movie shows the life of a man who was lost as sea for 46 days and then captured by the Japanese during WWII. He was held in a horrible prison for several years before they were liberated at the end of the war. The book was better. A lot of his life was left out of the movie which mostly showed his time in the POW camp. I would have liked to have more of his sports life and his life after the war, but it is still a good movie. A bit intense, I had to look away a few times.

Read the book.
This film is a travesty. It eliminates crucial elements from the book, including the entire point of the story, and is an empty shell without them. Please read the book. This true story is extremely important, and deserves to be told. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't tell it. If you want to know the truth, read the book. It is apparently too controversial to be shown in a Hollywood film.

Inspiring story
I read the book and the movie mostly followed the story line. However the movie could not duplicate the intense suffering by Louie Zamperini and the other prisoners. I didn't think the movie captured Zamperini's Christian conversion correctly. His wife and friend persuaded him to attend a Billy Graham revival where he was enlightened to accept Christ and forgive his captors. I believe reading the book first helped to better appreciate the story.

Great Story
I really enjoyed the story and the acting was excellent, however, the directing could have been better. There were a lot of meaningful and historic scenes that were not put together well, which made a movie that should have been riveting drag on instead. Still well worth the watch since it was based on a true story.

A good story
It a good Hollywood tale about a troubled youth who found track and field as a escape. Then went into the military at WW 2. A great story of survival and determination. A well put together story.

Example in motion!
Great movie, which reminds us how to persevere the many storms in life with Godly principles of love and a servant-leader mindset and intentional lifestyle! This movie gives you real-life situations - - well, maybe our situations may not always be this crucial, but we could find ourselves in dire scenarios that demand our trained and practiced focus to be aware of the challenges but to be solution-driven!! This movie is one, though hard to watch at times, has great examples of doing the right thing, visual aids, to engrain in our minds, hearts, and emotions to stay the course and to keep looking up, no matter what!! God and Christ will help encourage us and that manifested commitment and team effort for us as we do our part will get the attention of different people, as this movie so wonderfully displays! This movie will stay with you, if you view it intently, and it will add to your storehouse of strength to help remind you to keep your head (direct your thoughts) in order to overcome challenges, which decisions - - hopefully are nurtured in and anchored to Godly principles and with help from God's son, Jesus Christ as we cry out to him! This movie is a faith- (trust-) based movie and shows consequences of evil influence in people's lives by choice but also shows powerful, Godly influence in other people's lives by choice and the results of their trust and faithfulness and how that goodness overflows into other lives in need!

A great film about a man and his amazing will to survive
No Spoilers Here! This has a lot to offer: action, drama, humor, suspense... I enjoyed it immensely and would watch it again. In fact, I purchased this copy to send to my dad knowing he would enjoy it, too. It does have some violent scenes that may be too much for some sensitive/younger viewers, so I suggest you read some additional research before purchasing this or any other media that you want to share with your family.

Perry Good Movie
I recently bought this movie because i didnt see in the movie theather and i wasnt sure i would like this movie then i found out its based on a true story. So that made even more interesting and it was better than i thought

Endure and Forgive
This movie is outstanding, he endured unimaginable torture but refused to give up, he had a strength that is so deep within us, that it can only be found when we cry out to GOD with a loud voice, then we can take the torture, put up with the pain, be calm in captivity, and finally forgive our enemies. This movie will take your breath away, buy it now I guarantee you will not have any regrets, it's a must see for the whole family.
